St. Francis of Assisi is known to all as the poet saint who cast off his wealth and rank to embrace "Lady Poverty" and find true peace in humble service of the Creator and His creatures.
These are his prayers.
PRAYERS:
On each set of three beads, pray one Our Father, one Hail Mary and one Glory Be.
Concluding Prayer (optional):
(St. Francis' prayer at the foot of the San Damiano cross)
Most high, glorious God, enlighten the darkness of my heart and give me Lord, a correct faith, a certain hope, a perfect charity, sense and knowledge, so that I may carry out Your holy and true command. Amen.
or
Lord make me an instrument of your peace; Where there is hatred, let me sow love; Where there is injury, pardon; Where there is doubt, faith; Where there is despair, hope; Where there is darkness, light; And where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master grant that I may Not so much seek to be consoled as to console; To be understood, as to understand; To be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive, It is in pardoning that we are pardoned. And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen.
