The Catechism of the Catholic Church calls the family "the first school of Christian life." (CCC 1657). We look first to the Holy Family as a model for living: Joseph, the family's protector and faithful servant of God; Mary who by her faith became the first human to be redeemed by her Son; and Jesus, our Saviour, whose sacrifice opened heaven's doors.
