Bosnia-Herzegovina, near the centre of war-torn Eastern Europe, is the place Mary chose to visit, beginning in 1981 and continuing to this day. Six young people, Ivan, Jakov, Marija, Mirjana, Vicka and Ivanka, received visions of Our Lady, telling them of God's love for all. She especially urges us to pray the rosary, fast, read the Bible, and go to confession and Holy Communion. She also encourages the use of this peace chaplet, a tradition of the people of Croatia.

The apparition at Medjugorje has not been affirmed by the Catholic Church. There are three possible pronunciations:
